Ackerman Cancer Center is proud to announce Heading Forward: Support for People with Oral, Head, and Neck Cancer (SPOHNC).

We are pleased to announce this month’s speaker, Ashley Michaelis, M.S., CCC-SLP. Ashley is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist and the owner of Empowered Voice Rehabilitation LLC. She is a voice and swallowing specialist with over 10 years of experience evaluating and treating voice, swallowing, communication, and upper airway disorders across the lifespan.

Ashley is passionate about helping others regain their quality of life by providing high-quality, trauma-informed, evidenced-based specialty services. Ashley completed her Master’s degree at the University of Wyoming. She has worked in private practice, outpatient rehabilitation, inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, various multidisciplinary clinics, and facilities where she helped establish prehabilitation programs for individuals with head & neck cancer. She was also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Vermont where she taught the graduate level Voice Disorders course. She is an ASHA ACE Award recipient, an ASHA S.T.E.P. Mentor, and a Mentor for the MedSLP Collective.

Heading Forward – Support for People with Oral, Head, and Neck Cancer is dedicated to providing education and support for head and neck cancer patients and families.
