What to Expect
Oncology Social Workers
After your initial consultation and throughout the course of your treatment, an oncology social worker will connect with you to provide proactive and compassionate support services – from introducing you to a member of our BEAM Team, to assistance with transportation and housing costs, to coping with the emotional impact of your cancer diagnosis. These incredible team members are available and accessible to patients, families, and caregivers.
Oncology Certified Nurses
Our oncology certified nurses have received advanced training in the complex field of cancer care. They work directly with our physicians to ensure seamless service throughout your treatment.
Good nutrition is vital to health, during and after cancer treatment. Ackerman Cancer Center’s oncology registered dietician understands the unique dietary needs of cancer patients, and is available to guide you through any questions or concerns. You will work together to develop a customized nutritional plan that fulfills your new and ever-changing dietary needs and personal preferences. Nutrition is an integral part of Ackerman Cancer Center’s whole-patient care approach, and we are here to help nourish your body every step of the way.
A cancer diagnosis often comes with additional stress due to financial constraints. Our number one goal is to make sure you get the treatment you need; our financial counselors provide the information, advice, and guidance to ensure the insurance and fiscal aspects of your cancer diagnosis support that goal.
